Essentially a good, long overdue plan

From "Draft Pollinator Action Plan"

Go to the project

  • It would be better to have no pesticide use as even small residues have a big impact.
  • There are many conservation charities that could provide information regarding good practice (Plantlife, Butterfly / Bumblebee Conservation etc.) depending on the goal (verges, public spaces, orchards, growing space etc.)
  • Many of the excellent comments posted note ensuring flowering (native plants) are available throughout the year as an important food source for pollinators. Please take this on board.
  • Must take into account changing residents' perception that tidy is not necessarily beneficial as evidenced in Cornton when someone cut the grass of the public space "managed for wildlife" because if left long it would harbor undesirables or perhaps just look messy
