Regarding the pollinator strategy that Stirling council is planning. Thank you for taking on board the seriousness of declining populations of pollinators, but it is also important to take on board the declining populations of ALL insects and to provide suitable habitats for them.
The elimination of all pesticide use is absolutely crucial to this process if you are serious about saving pollinators. It is also absolutely vital that some plants and leaf litter are left for insects and pollinators to over winter in so that there are pollinators the following year.
Replacing annual bedding plants that currently provide little or no nectar and pollen would be very beneficial. It should also be noted however that not all pollinators are active during the day and the nocturnal pollinators also need to be considered. This would involve a serious rethink regarding white street light pollution and air pollution.
