Stop using weed killers
From "Draft Pollinator Action Plan"
Go to the project
While creating new habitats is very important , it is also vital to stop using pollinator killing weed killers. I was shocked to see council employees spraying weed killer around the edge of the play park in killearn and in strathblane. Please leave the weeks or hand weed. There is no point in planting a wildflower meadow to spray the areas near it which will kill the insects. Also stop mowing verges that do not need to be low for visibility splays. We need to reassess our ideas of “tidy and neat” and let arras be wild

The use of pesticides is ever-increasing on Council, private and agricultural land. Killing insects destroys birds that depend on them and killing "weeds" kills every bit of wildliuf that depends on them. Just stop it!

Last month the EEC passed the use of neonicitinoides for another 7 years!! 7 YEARS!! This is despite knowing the enormous damage these chemicals cause to insects but especially to bees. I sincerely hope SEPA and DEFRA don’t follow suit.
