I wholeheartedly support the proposal to designate the North Common as an LNCS.
It is a very important site for Biodiversity and much cherished by the local community, many of whom use it every day as a place to walk, to study our local flora and fauna, and simply to be in a wild and beautiful space so close to our homes.
A recent survey of the ecology of the North Common underlines its value as a very diverse habitat, with a huge number of species of plants birds and animals, some of which are uncommon or rare.
Many of us are involved with community groups helping to care for the North Common, and it is a great resource for education, recreation and community involvement. The Community Orchard, with its wild flower meadow, was originally planned with involvement of Thornhill primary School, is within the North Common and it is much valued by the community.
Everything should be done to preserve and enhance this special place in our village and I believe its designation as an LNCS is essential
