Niall Currie•4 years ago This site has very high potential to support scarce and declining invertebrate species due to the mosaic of habitats present here (Open Mosaic Habitats on Previously Developed Land) including bare south facing slopes, sparsely vegetated ground, specialist flora uncommon in the surrounding area, scrub and wetland features.

Niall Currie•4 years ago The Scottish Biodiversity List (SBL) priority habitat Open Mosaic Habitats on Previously Developed Land appear to be present here (nutrient poor grassland, sparesely vegetated ground, wetland and scrub), which has the potential to support high invertebrate biodiversity as well as a range of birds, mammals and amphibians, including SBL priority species.

Forthside brownfield

Previous land use has left thin soils which have allowed diverse plant species including many wildflowers to colonise. In association with the willow woodland and riverbank wetland habitats, this open habitat has potential to support invertebrate communities of conservation importance.
