Polmaise Colliery

David Bryan•4 years ago This area of woodland has a surprising amount of structural diversity owing to it's historical uses. There are areas of bog and wetland along with native woodland. Furthermore, it is of national historical importance owing to links to the battle of Bannockburn.

Braehead Meadows

David Bryan•4 years ago Running south from Braehead community garden to pike road. This area of meadow is regenerating into mixed scrub habitat and is well used by local people for walking and recreation. It's currently isolated from any other areas of nature by Broom road and the rail line. Added value could be achieved if it was connected to the proposed Broomridge LNCS.

Cat Craig and meadows

David Bryan•4 years ago The area outlined in red in the attached photo covers Cat Craig woods and the surrounding meadows. The Craig itself was a quarry and now has a nice native woodland growing up. The surrounding meadows are dominated by grasses but are starting to diversify and more wildflowers and other species are coming up. The area has one official footpath running through it but it is very well used by local people and there are lots of other footpaths and its a great walking areas. The area is also important for habitat connectivity as it links directly to the Bannockburn forming an a corridor for wildlife movement.

Quick integration

David Bryan•5 years ago Current plans seem piece meal and not linked up. For instance, there are a number of cycle routes from Bridge of Allan to cornton and the university but they are not linked up. I would like to see a complete integrated cycle network that could be built over time rather than adding on as we go along.

The Hawes and allotments

David Bryan•5 years ago So much of the Hawes has potential for rewilding, especially along the road. It would also be a great way to link the allotments and the pollination programme. Adding a community orchard (similar to Menstries's) would allow the the community area to extend outwards and it could easily be managed by the allotment people.
