Causewayhead to Bridge of Allan
Phase 1 of the project will connect Bridge of Allan with Walk, Cycle, Live Stirling infrastructure at the Hillfoots Road junction, to create a safe walking and cycling route between Wallace High, Airthrey Road, and the junction of Keir Street and Fountain Road.
The Concept Design PDFs are available at the bottom of this page. Some changes have been made to the design following the feedback received during the consultation last year. We will upload the drawings here when they are ready.
The project is being part-funded by the Stirling & Clackmannanshire City Region Deal. A bid for the remaining funding required has been submitted to Transport Scotland.
Update, April 2026: We have now secured planning permission for the off-road section of the route. We are still waiting to hear if our funding bid to Transport Scotland has been successful.
Update, September 2025: Thank you to everyone who engaged in the Concept Design consultation. Please see the Consultation Findings report for download at the bottom of this page.
On-carriageway options were also considered for Airthrey Road, but the limited width on Airthrey Road would mean that the cycleway and footway would both be at minimum widths, which was not deemed appropriate for this location. The on-road option would also result in the carriageway being reduced to a minimum width, making it harder for our Roads Maintenance colleagues to undertake necessary works on this section.
