Quick poll on the Climate Adaptation Strategy

What is the Climate Adaptation Strategy?

As part of our Climate and Nature Emergency Plan, which we published in 2021, we set an action to create a Climate Adaptation Strategy.

Now, we'd like to hear what you think about our draft strategy.

The chart on the right shows how this strategy fits into our overall policy and legislation ecosystem.

It sets a vision for 'A well-prepared, climate resilient collaborative Stirling'.

In practice, that means that we will have:

  • Understanding and awareness of the impact, risks, opportunities, and actions to adapt to climate change.
  • Resilient buildings and infrastructure.
  • A protected natural environment.
  • Supported communities.

Tell us whether you think the vision and objectives we've set are useful using the poll as the bottom of this page. If you want to provide a more detailed response on the draft strategy, please click on this link to comment on the full PDF.

If you have any difficulty responding via this page, or if you have any further questions about the strategy, please email insights@stirling.gov.uk.

What does climate change mean for us?

The central vision of the Climate Adaptation Strategy is to transform Stirling into one of the best-prepared, most climate-resilient areas in Scotland. To do this, we all need to understand how climate change will affect our area, our businesses, and our communities. This knowledge will help us to work with others to reduce the risks we face, make the most of any new opportunities, and start working to deliver this vision. Click the boxes below to find out more about the global picture, the Scottish context, future risks, and what we need to do next.

What are we going to do?

The table below shows what we are going to do to meet our vision for "A well-prepared, collaborative and climate-resilient Stirling".

Use the quick poll at the bottom of this page to give us a snapshot of what you think.

One of the actions we set out in our Climate and Nature Emergency Plan, which was approved in 2021, was to develop a Climate Adaptation Strategy.

This strategy will help make sure that our area is well-informed and well-prepared for the effects of climate change. Although we can limit how big these effects will be by reducing the amount of heat-trapping gases we put into the atmosphere, some changes are already under way. We need to adapt to these as individuals and as a community. This strategy sets out how we want to achieve this.

Use the section above to browse a summary of each section of the report, and click on the link to see the full strategy.

This quick poll will help us make sure we've got the right vision and objectives for the strategy. If you'd like to make more in-depth comments on the strategy, please go to this page, where you can read and comment on the full PDF version of the strategy.

2Objective 1 is to "Develop and maintain a clear understanding of climate impacts, risks, opportunities, and adaptation actions in collaboration with key partners". Do you think this objective and sub-objectives (shown above) are clearly defined and useful?

3Objective 2 is to "Ensure the resilience of our buildings and critical infrastructure to local climate impacts." Do you think this objective and sub-objectives (shown above) are clearly defined and useful?

4Objective 3 is to "Protect and enhance our natural environment". Do you think this objective and sub-objectives (shown above) are clearly defined and useful?

5Objective 4 is to "Encourage and support individual and community resilience". Do you think this objective and sub-objectives (shown above) are clearly defined and useful?
