Dumbarton Road and Raploch Road

Background

Our proposal continues a segregated bi-directional cycleway that connects between the Forth Valley College and the city centre. There is the opportunity to utilise some of the existing green space at the roundabout to add parking spaces.

Interventions here must be careful not to add clutter or detract from existing views to the King's Knot or Stirling Castle. The first half of the route adjoins open countryside, passing through Green Belt and Green Corridor land. The King's Knot is accessible from Dumbarton Road, but parking is restricted to roadside spaces and can be awkward to access, especially for dog walkers and parents with young children.

Walking and cycling links will be improved including links to Gowan Hill, the King's Knot and the eastern end of Albert Place (City Centre). The Back Walk can also be accessed via the King's Knot.
