Forthside Active Travel

Improving active travel routes in and around Forthside

Stirling Council is currently developing proposals for high-quality routes for walking, wheeling and cycling to the Forthside area, as part of the wider Masterplan development. More information on the Masterplan can be found here: Forthside Masterplan.

The proposals will enable people living and working in the Forthside area to connect with the city centre and wider Stirling area by active travel. It is part of a £3 million investment in safe, low-cost, healthy travel choices, funded through several external sources including the UK Government’s Levelling Up Fund.

Work is progressing on designs for three important routes to the new Forthside development. These are:

  • Meadowforth Road
  • Forthside Way (East)
  • Forthside Way (West)
  • Forthside Way to Abbey Road (Riverside)

Additional routes for Ladysneuk Road and Cambuskenneth are also being progressed to create a network of active travel routes in the North East of Stirling.

All of the above projects are funded through the Levelling Up Fund and are due to complete construction by April 2026.

Two connecting projects are also being progressed in partnership with Sustrans, including:

  • NCN76 Millhall Rd to Forthside Way (Kerse Road)
  • NCN76 Manor Powis re-alignment (Manor Powis to Causewayhead)

More information about each route is available below. Full design details for the Forthside Way, Meadowforth Road, and Ladysneuk Road routes are shown in the PDFs linked. More detail will follow on the remaining routes.
