Henderson Street: Traffic Management
Bridge of Allan Community Council, local residents and Stirling Council have been working together to identify and find solutions for access and traffic management issues throughout the Bridge of Allan area. This work has already resulted in works being undertaken to improve pedestrian accessibility around Bridge of Allan Primary School and improvements to disabled persons’ parking spaces on Henderson Street.
The next phase of work is deigned to better manage traffic on Henderson Street and improve the road environment for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists. The aim of the project is to encourage responsible parking, improve driver behaviour and provide improved pedestrian facilities on Henderson Street and Fountain Road by making some simple changes to change the way motorists view the streets.
The proposed improvements are shown on the plans provided and include;
- changes to road markings
- position of proposed parking bays
- location of the proposed new zebra crossing on Fountain Road
- Improvements to bus stop areas
This your chance to comment and Stirling Council would welcome your views.

Feedback
Our officers have now analysed responses and can confirm:
- The marking of on road parking bays received support and this component of the project will be implemented - marking bays on road will encourage motorists to park fully on the road, improving conditions for pedestrians, particularly the young and wheelchair users
- We will proceed with the installation of the zebra crossing on Fountain Road
- No additional DYL locations were proposed at this time but officers will keep this under review during the post project monitoring period.
- Requests for a pedestrian crossing point at Memorial Park were received as part of the consultation – this cannot be delivered at this time but consideration will be given to a pedestrian crossing at a later date as budgets allow
- Requests for traffic calming on Keir Street were received as part of the consultation – this cannot be delivered at this time but consideration will be given to the request at a later date as budgets allow
- Requests for a reduction in waiting times for pedestrians at traffic signalised crossing within the village were received as part of the consultation - we will reduce wait time for pedestrians waiting at the Allanwater Café and ex-Tesco site . Both of these sites already benefit from audible crossing devices and rotating cones on call units to provide non-visual information for people with visual impairments. However, we are investigating the introduction of audible locator devices at the Allanwater Café and ex-Tesco site to aid visually impaired users.
- We will proceed with removal of the indented bus stop in the village centre - the build out and new flag will be located at the east end of the existing bus stop cage to maintain visibility of zebra crossing.
- We will not proceed with removal of indented bus stop at Memorial Park
