NCN76 Manor Powis re-alignment
Stirling Council are working with Sustrans’ National Cycle Network (NCN) team to realign the NCN Route 76, diverting it from Alloa Road to an off-road path and quiet lane. This infrastructure will allow cyclists to bypass the Manor Powis roundabout and avoid on-road cycling along Alloa Road. The proposals also feature a connection to the new Walk, Cycle, Live Stirling active travel network at Causewayhead. This corridor addresses a key missing link for Sustrans, Stirling Council and Clackmannanshire Council, enhancing connections to Stirling City centre, Alloa, the University of Stirling and Causewayhead.
Thank you to everyone who took part in the design consultation. We have provided a summary of responses below.
In summary, there is a clear, strong support for the proposed active travel route. However, there are concerns from businesses and residents about the loss of parking on Alloa Road and equally concerns from others about the adequacy of the shared-use pavement if parking is not removed.
Our next steps are – as mandated through the consultation – to commit to deliver this “long-awaited, long overdue” active travel route. By progressing more detailed and technical designs for the concept presented between Manor Powis Roundabout – Ladysneuk Road (Phase 1). Share a timeline for delivery of this scheme, which will be subject to funding. Explore other options, interventions and alignments for the Alloa Road section of the route (Phase 2).
