Site Options

The purpose of this part of the consultation is to gather feedback from individual members of the public and community organisations on the site options currently being considered for inclusion in the Proposed Plan..

This part of the consultation invites comments on the sites currently being considered for inclusion in the Proposed Plan.

Only individual members of the public and community organisations are able to take part in this part of the consultation. The purpose of this consultation is to seek feedback from the public and communities on the sites currently under consideration. Submissions of new sites or ideas that are not related to those presented as part of this consultation will not be accepted.

This consultation includes:

This consultation excludes:

  • Sites already allocated and progressing toward delivery (for example, those under construction). These sites are not being reconsidered as part of this consultation.
  • ‘Ideas’ submitted through the previous Call for Sites and Ideas consultation. While these are not included in the current site review, they will inform other aspects of preparing the Plan, such as identifying local designations and developing future policy and guidance.

Information on the site options is provided through the following:

Site Options Map - This map shows the location of all site options across the Local Development Plan area. It also includes key data and illustrative maps to help illustrate the potential impacts associated with each site and to support the information presented in the associated Site Options Papers and Storymaps.

Site Options Papers - These papers, provided below, present each site option by Community Council area and provide an overview of the promoted use(s) for inclusion in the Proposed Plan, including indicative site capacity information where available (for example, the potential number of new homes a site could deliver).

The papers also provide information on how each site performs against key considerations, in line with the approved Site Appraisal Methodology.

They also include an overview of the provisions of any related Local Place Plan (either registered or submitted for registration) and outline how these provisions would be considered at a later stage of the site assessment process.

Site Options Storymap - These interactive Storymaps present the sites by Community Council area. They include mapping for the key assessment considerations from the initial assessment stage, grouped by theme. This information is generally consistent with the mapping presented in the Site Options Papers; however, it allows the mapping to be explored in greater detail, reflecting the illustrative nature of the maps included in those papers.

The Site Options Papers should be read alongside the relevant StoryMap for each area, with a link to the corresponding StoryMap provided within each paper.

Key considerations:

When responding to this consultation, you are invited to indicate whether you support, oppose, or take a neutral view on each site option, and to explain your position with reference to the relevant considerations.

Key considerations and supporting data have been provided alongside each site option to help you understand the potential impacts - for example, on the built and natural environment. These considerations are drawn from the approved Evidence Report.

Please limit your contributions to material planning considerations, meaning they hold weight in the preparation of the Local Development Plan. Non-planning considerations cannot be considered in planning decision‑making.

Understanding this distinction helps ensure your feedback is focused, relevant, and more likely to influence the outcome of the consultation.

Examples of non‑material considerations include:

  • Loss of private views
  • Impact on property value
  • Competition between businesses
  • Moral objections (e.g. “gambling should not be legal, and no betting shops should be approved for this reason”))
  • Private legal disputes (e.g. land ownership or boundary issues)
  • The Site Options Papers include material planning consideration, but are not exhaustive, you may view that there are others to consider.
