Stirling Heritage Action Plan
Stirling is one of Scotland’s most historic places and has been pivotal at key moments in Scottish history. Stretching from the Bronze Age to the 20th century, Stirling’s historic environment has assets which have shaped the course of Scotland’s past, including the battlefields of Bannockburn, Stirling Bridge and Sheriffmuir and the crowning of Mary Queen of Scots at Stirling Castle. In addition to these iconic sites, there are townscapes and rural areas of significance.
The Finance, Economy and Corporate Support Committee approved the Stirling Heritage Strategy on the 21st November 2024. Subsequent work has developed a draft Stirling Heritage Action Plan to set out the short, medium and longer term actions to protect and enhance the many assets across the Stirling area.
We want your input to ensure that the action plan delivers for the communities of Stirling and delivers on the vision from the Stirling Heritage Strategy to ensure that:
Stirling’s historic environment will be valued and protected through close working partnerships and inclusion of all communities in the development of sustainable projects which bring to life Stirling’s rich and diverse history and heritage.
The draft action plan can be read below. A map of all of the heritage assets in the Stirling council area can also be accessed here: Historic Assets and Places Map.
